Crafted from scavenged wood, this bowl was once part of a tree that was felled in a neighboring yard. I started by removing the bark and rounding off the edges before drawing the shape that I saw within the wood. Then I sculpted and removed material using my angle grinder with a Kutzall attachment. Once I had refined the shape and sanded it down I used a wood burning technique (Yakisugi) to harden and change the color profile of the wood. This was done with a propane torch before sanding to a polished finish and applying beeswax wood polish to the surface.
